Ichos

What is Ìchos?

Ìchos is a 2D platformer. The player takes the roll of a young child, Phṓs. As part of a larger scheme, the child along with many other specially talented children are taken from their homes into a dark forest, due to their innate musical gifts. Phṓs must work his way through the many puzzles that lay between him and his home. On the way, he finds many of the children that were taken, like him, and in exchange for their freedom, they bestow upon him their gifts, which manifest in the form of abilities that Phṓs may use to escape the forest. Players play at their own pace, using their understanding of the game's mechanics to navigate traps, complete levels and make their way through levels.

We're a small group of students from Media Design School, New Zealand, and this is our first game we made together.

Why are we doing this?

Ìchos is our end of year final project, where both streams from the Game Development stream, the BSE Programmers and the BCT Artists, get together and make a game together. We're all gamers, and all share a passion for platformer games. Although giants such as Limbo, Ori and the Blind Forest and Journey already exist (and we'd never be able to attain that sort of content with the time we had), we thought it would be fun to start off by creating a game that harks back to those that we love.
